Year Two - En Vida: Les TransCestres

OCELOTL MORA (El/He/Him)

Ocelotl Mora, El/He/Him, is a transgender man of 41, a pocho “Ni de aqui, ni de aya,” Mexicano, Chicano, caregiver, and advocate for trans and disabled people, two-spirit QTPOC traditional medicine, and queer elder communities.

He was born in San Antonio, TX, but unable to exist there, left home at 14 to be raised by 4 chosen families. He now calls the Tiwa lands of Albuquerque, NM home. A self-taught, cultural storyteller, Ocelotl brings the Chicanx aesthetic of rasquachismo, “lifestyle of the underdog,” to photography, blended with digital art, writing, sculpture, installation, and dance.

With raw vulnerability, he integrates community voices as he exposes his personal struggle to live authentically within his culture, illuminating the dire need for TransMale visibility and supportive healthcare for all Transgender people.

 En Vida: Les TransCestres

Ancient Mexican indigenous practices collide with a young trans boy’s coming of age experience as BOI seeks support from his local Curadero.

Together, they go on a great spiritual journey where BIO learns what it means to be a man. Inspired by a photograph Ocelotl created called "The Trans Cena", which is a trans re-imagining of the last supper portrait, En Vida brings this photograph to life following the lives of the different members of the tableau.
